Reports, PDF and report branding

The technical SEO report built on the server, downloading or emailing it, the automatic scan (daily on Pro, weekly on Starter), your business name on reports from Starter, and Enterprise colour and footer.

Updated · 4 min read

The report is the work product to hand to a client or a developer. It is deliberately long: every finding carries what was measured, why it matters, and what to change, and the appendix lists every check that ran, including the ones that passed.

Plan: Starter and up for PDF reports (they need a completed SEO scan, which is Starter). Automatic scans run every day on Pro and up and every week on Starter, and you can slow a domain down under its Daily scan; the report email is Pro and up. Your business name on the cover is Starter and up; your accent colour and footer line are Enterprise.

Where

  • Web: Reports in the rail, Generate a report; or a domain's SEO & search tab, Reports.
  • iOS: the Reports module on a domain opens the web Reports page with your session. The report is read in the app or emailed to your own address.
  • API/MCP: GET /api/seo/report/:domainId (the PDF), POST /api/seo/report/:domainId/email; tool email_seo_report (domain_id, to, optional note).

What is in it

It is built from the domain's latest homepage SEO scan: a cover with the domain, the scan date and the SEO and accessibility scores; every failing or warning check from that scan, with why it matters and how to fix it; and an appendix of every check, including the ones that passed. It does not include score history, whole-site crawl results or the search-intent findings; read those in the SEO section. The PDF is generated inside the Worker so the same bytes serve the download and the email attachment.

Emailing

The email form takes an address and an optional note. In the app the report goes to your own address; on the web and over the API any address. The email is sent from DomainGuard with the PDF attached.

Automatic scans (daily on Pro and Enterprise, weekly on Starter)

Pro and Enterprise get an automatic SEO scan of each watched domain every day, run with its morning scan, with the results saved and one batched report email; Starter gets the scan every week without the email. You can slow any domain to weekly or monthly, or turn it off, on its schedule card. Paused domains and domains over the plan's watch limit are skipped, and a site that does not answer is retried after 1, 2, 4 and then 7 days. Each domain's page shows when its next scan runs (Automatic checks). An admin can grant the daily automation to an individual account on any plan.

Report branding

Settings, Report branding (or Reports, Branding) sets what goes on every emailed and downloaded report, the SEO report and a domain's security report alike.

  • Free: reports carry the domain on the cover and end with "Made with DomainGuard".
  • Starter and Pro: you can set your business name, which goes on the cover in place of the domain. The report still ends with "Made with DomainGuard". It never carries our support address.
  • Enterprise: your name, an accent colour for the headings, and your own footer line, which replaces ours.

GET /api/reports/branding is readable on any plan (so the page can explain what the upgrade buys). It returns level (product, name or white_label), can_name, and entitled, which stays true only for Enterprise. PUT takes company_name from Starter; accent_hex, footer_text and logo_url need Enterprise and are refused with 402 below it rather than stored. Tools: get_report_branding, save_report_branding (the save tool needs API write access, which is Enterprise).

If an account downgrades, its stored branding is kept but only what the new plan allows is printed, until the plan is back.

Common questions

Can I export a domain's security findings as PDF? Yes. Reports, Generate a report, then PDF on a domain's row downloads its security report: records, certificate, registration, checkup results and the latest vulnerability scan summary. It carries the same branding as the SEO report.

Where did "share" go in the app? Removed in September 2026. Results stay in the account; Export PDF opens the report on the web inside the app, and Ask NHM is the only way a finding leaves the screen.

Still stuck?

Ask the people who run the scanner.

Send the domain and what you expected to see. We look at the same scan you are looking at and write back with what it means and what to change.
